How do I get a cheap car rental?

Low Cost Car Rentals offer great rates on their car rentals. We are here to help you to find the best deal. The rates are based on:

  • what kind of licence do you hold;
  • how old are you;
  • choose the right car class for the number of travelers and luggage you are carrying;
  • decide on your mileage and fuel needs;

Remember that you can rent a car from Low Cost Car Rentals if you are aged 21 or over. If you’re under 25, you might have to pay a surcharge for being a younger driver. We do accept Provisional and International Driver Licences as long as it is in English and valid during the rental period.

    What cars does Low Cost Car Rentals rent out?

    Low Cost Car Rentals offers some of the best vehicles on the market from reputable brands.

    You have a choice of 5-seaters hatches and sedans as well as AWD SUVs in 7-seater range. There are also utility vehicle like moving vans and utes are available. Perhaps you want to hire a Jaguar or Mercedes for the luxury ride? Everything is possible. Our team is only a call away.

    What do I need to hire a car from Low Cost Car Rentals?

    You can rent a car as long as you are over 21 years of age with a valid driver licence and a credit card. A debit card is also fine as long as it has Visa or Mastercard label on it. We accept Amex as well. Fees on Amex and higher deposits on debit cards may apply.

    Please do not forget to bring your Driver Licence and Credit Card when picking up the car.

    To know more, feel free to explore our FAQs or give our team a call.

    Where is the Low Cost Car Rentals office located?

    Our main branch is located at 6 Stokes Avenue in Alexandria NSW Australia. It is conveniently situated in between the Green Square and Redfern rain stations which are only 1-2 stops away from Sydney CBD.

    We do offer the cars to be delivered to your address. It is a free service for 5+ days booking from Sydney Domestic and Sydney International Airports.

    Please ask us about the rental car to be delivered to you. It is often a free service depends on the requested pick-up/drop-off dates, times and your location.

    Why Low Cost Car Rentals are cheaper than Sydney Airpot car hire agencies?

    Our office is conveniently located just 10-minutes from Sydney Airport. It helps us keeping the car hire rates lower than most competitors.

    In some circumstances we do need to bring you back to our office to do the paperwork, but most of the time you get your rental car at the Airport location, conveniently located only 150 metres from the Departures and Arrivals gates. This has a clear benefit comparing to a shuttle bus that most of the car rentals offer.

    What do I need to know about driving in Australia?

    Australians drive on the left side of the road and the majority of vehicles have the steering wheel on their right side.

    Driving conditions vary. Most Australians live on or near the eastern and south-east coasts. Roads within and between the cities and towns in these areas are sealed (paved) and well maintained, as are the main highways that join the state and territory capital cities. There are usually plenty of well marked rest areas on major highways, though these are usually very basic and do not always have toilet facilities.

    Some motorways, bridges, and tunnels in major cities require payment of tolls. On some roads, a cash payment can be made at tollbooths on the road, however increasingly there is a trend to electronic collection of tolls via transponders fitted inside vehicles. Some toll roads do not allow for cash payment at all. If you drive on such a road without a transponder, a photo is taken of your vehicle’s number plate, and you have a limited time (between 24 and 72 hours, depending upon the road) to phone a number or visit a website and arrange credit card payment (plus an additional processing fee) before a fine is issued. Toll roads are clearly signposted and opportunities to exit are clearly delineated before reaching the first tolling point.

    Avoiding toll roads may save you a few dollars, but you may pay in extra travel time, fuel cost, and navigation difficulties, particularly during peak travel times. When hiring a car, ask us for advice on toll roads. Alternatively you can find some information in here.

    Please remember it is your responsibility to know and obey the Australian Road Rules. Any fines and toll charges that occurred during the rental period are are issued by Government and/or Private Road Authorities, and not by us. We will simply forward all the fines and toll charges we receive to the main driver. In case there was an additional driver who was responsible for the toll or the fine, the main driver can nominate them once they get the paperwork in post. So please make sure your postal address is correct in our records.
